Welcome to the OpenACC GPU Applicaton Hackathon China 2019, hosted by the Computer Network Information Center (CNIC), Chinese Academy of Sciences. The goal of this 5-day Hackathon is to jumpstart acceleration or optimization of potentially scalable application codes on GPUs with OpenACC and other tools. Teams of developers are welcome to join this 5-day hands-on training with intensive mentoring by mentors from research institutes, universities and vendors, who have extensive experience in programming GPUs. Some of our mentors develop the GPU-capable compilers and help define standards such as OpenACC and OpenMP. Participating teams are expected to leave with applications running on GPUs, or at least a clear roadmap of how to get there.
We are looking for teams of 3-5 developers with either (1) a (potentially) scalable application that could benefit from GPU accelerators, or (2) an application running on accelerators that needs optimization. Collectively the team should know the application intimately.
Prior programming experience with GPUs is NOT a requirement. You will learn quickly in the intense 5-day schedule, working on your code 95% of the time with the mentors. We encourage you to become familiar with OpenACC so that you can use your time at the hackathon more efficiently.
